2007 Conference
July 8-13, 2007
St. Norbert College, DePere, Wisconsin

Dear Former/Current Fellows:

For the last twenty-five years of my life, I have spent one week of the summer on a college campus, immersing myself into an educational program that is by far the greatest contributor to a long and reasonably successful career as a school administrator. The people I have met, the presenters I have listened to, and the atmosphere of an effort totally dedicated to children has caused me to clarify some practices, learn new ones, and appreciate fellowship of those who share the similar toil of being a public servant.

There is no doubt in my mind that others who have attended the IDEA Fellows Programs, and more recently, the F.I.E.L. Fellows Program share this opinion.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is once again time to begin the process of registration for our July 8 - 13, 2007 conference at St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin. F.I.E.L. continues to be the conference set up and carried out by those who attend. It is an honor to continue on the role as Conference Director.

Fellows will again stay in a dorm complex, so attendees need to be prepared for a Spartan week of networking and intellectual stimulation. There is also a social component to the preparations. Please note the following items of interest:

  • A $100 deposit for the conference can be sent immediately to Helen Swanson, Business Manager, Lemont High School District #210, 800 Porter Street, Lemont, Illinois 60439. The application form should be sent with the deposit.
  • The cost of the conference will remain at $725 and that includes all expenses related to room and board for the week. Those of you who were veterans of IDEA will recall that the last year of tuition for that conference was $1500. We are very proud of maintaining this inexpensive cost over our three year existence.
  • The college will now allow Saturday arrivals. Anyone interested in arriving Saturday must e-mail me: adibenedetto@longhill.org. There is a slight charge of $40 for the room use on Saturday.
  • The deadline for applications is June 15, 2007 but it is hoped that for organizational purposes, no one waits that long to apply.
  • Anyone who will be attending is asked to forward the title and and author of any outstanding book that they believe to be appropriate to our conference. The list will be compiled and shared.
  • The conference site is served by Austin Straebel Airport in Green Bay and that is only a few minutes from campus. The campus is just north of Appleton, Wisconsin.
  • The application form includes a spot for selecting roommate should there not be enough individual rooms in the dorm. This depends upon enrollment.
  • I am attaching a second letter for anyone you would like to nominate to attend. We ask that current fellows please forward this information to anyone who has not been involved in the past, but who would appreciate and benefit from the conference week.

If you have any specific questions, please forward them to my e-mail address. I thank you for your continued support and interest.

Arthur DiBenedetto,
F.I.E.L. Conference Director
